Meta’s Muse passed 500,000 users in a week, but retention remains the real test
More than 500,000 people tried Meta’s Muse personal agent roughly a week after its September 8 launch, according to internal data viewed by The Information. More than 250,000 were daily active users, and they submitted over 2 million prompts.
Those figures establish meaningful initial interest, but not yet habitual use. An agent meant to make purchases, manage messages and complete tasks must earn trust across repeated sessions; downloads and launch-week prompts can be driven by novelty. The useful next measures are retained weekly users, successful completed tasks and the share of people who grant the persistent permissions needed for delegation.
Amazon’s decision to block Muse from shopping on its site also limits what an early user can accomplish. Meta can distribute the agent to an enormous audience, but independent platforms still control access to the transactions that make a personal agent valuable.
